a shoegazer's little secret

as a teenager I had a shoegazer phase, which manifested itself mainly in black clothes, winkle pickers, back combed hair and a vile attitude towards teachers and parents

on a night out I would only dance to the cure, siouxie, killing joke or joy division and in the event of a happier tune being played, it was my cue to stomp off to the bar,light a roll-up, look grim and drink more cheap beer

except when this was played

although my dancing to this little ditty was obviously meant to be an "ironic gesture" of sorts,secretely it was hilarious fun

today in a weird way it feels like those days were so very long ago

last saturday I braved treacherous roads and icy cold on my bike to learn how to make stamps

while the others managed to carve minutely intricate seaweed, navaho and even a (I kid you not) springbock pattern I succeeded to hack out of rubber another addition to my collection of misshapen vegetable images

is it rude to request that rail staff inform passengers waiting on the platform that the train will be delayed by 25 minutes?

passengers might for instance prefer to have a ridiculously overpriced chai tea at starbucks instead
